New York City

My cousin is visiting me from Costa Rica all this month, and we decided to make a trip to NYC for 2 days. Here’s a few shots from the trip!

This one’s in Cambridge, at the subway on our way to the bus station:

Central Square T stop

This is New York’s subway:

I’m not much of a sports guy, but my cousin was itching to see a Yankees game.

I grew up in Connecticut and visited New York a bunch of times, but I had never been to Coney Island. Here’s a few:

This Sat and Sun: Somerville Open Studios!

Come see a ton of art! Come eat a ton of food!

Somerville Open Studios

My studio is at 86 Joy St, studio 4. Since it’s a little out of the way (#20 on the SOS map), there will be shuttles from Joy Street to other areas of Somerville.

I’m still figuring out what I’ll be hanging, but the following images are already framed and on the wall. I’m a bit all over the place in terms of artwork. I love all aspects of photography, so I have a bunch of different projects going on at any given time. I’ll be showing some film work, some digital, some Polaroids (including rare 20×24 Polaroid images that I almost never show), and whatever else I have time to prepare. I have large-format color urban landscapes at night, portraits, documentary travel work, etc.

I know, a flower picture. There’s something about this one that doesn’t feel cheesy to me, though. I printed it huge (I think 30×40).

These next few are from Italy. Florence, to be precise.

Food Vendor, Italy

This one is one of my all-time favorite pictures I’ve ever taken. It’s one of those times where I got the perfect split-second where everything is perfectly placed in the frame. My photo hero Cartier-Bresson calls it the “Decisive Moment.”

Here are 2 of my Holga pictures. I’m showing 5. I still love using film and printing in a darkroom.

Rumble Finals!

Wow, going to every single night of the Rumble was exhausting, but I had a blast! First off, here’s Mark Hamilton, DJ for WBCN, and the man who put the whole thing together:

Mikey Dee was a beloved local DJ that made a lasting contribution to Boston’s music scene. He passed away 5 years ago, and some of his ashes were spread to commemorate the event.

To cap off the night, the final band to take the stage were the Neighborhoods, winners of the first Rumble 30 years ago!
